About the Course
Being a parent to a child with sickle cell comes with real responsibility, and sometimes real uncertainty. When your child becomes unwell, you may find yourself asking: Is this serious? Should we go to hospital? Am I overreacting, or am I missing something important? Sickle Cell Red Flags for Parents was created to make that decision clearer. You don't need to diagnose what's wrong with your child. Instead, you’ll learn how to recognise the key warning signs of six serious sickle cell complications: severe pain, infection and fever, acute chest syndrome, stroke, sudden severe anaemia and splenic sequestration, plus a bonus lesson on priapism. You’ll also learn how those warning signs can look different in babies, younger children and teenagers, so you know what to look for even when your child cannot clearly explain what they are feeling. Rather than overwhelming you with medical jargon, the course focuses on what matters most as a parent: What the warning signs look like, why they matter, and when they mean it is time to seek medical help. At the end, everything comes together in a simple 60-second red flag checklist you can use whenever your child becomes unwell. Learn the red flags before you need them, so when your child becomes unwell, you already know what to look for.

Join parents and carers who now feel confident recognising sickle cell emergencies and making the right decisions for their children.
The course is amazing! Everything is explained so clearly and calmly, which I found really reassuring. It flows nicely and you can just sit down and absorb the information. I also love the Red Flags Checklist because it goes straight to the point of what you need to look out for.
Parent of Child with Sickle Cell
What I’ve seen is very, very informative. We’re lucky to have somebody creating this who has first-hand experience of sickle cell as well as a medical background. You’re getting that insider’s perspective alongside the medical knowledge.
Parent of Child with Sickle Cell
I’d only watched two videos and I was already glad I paid for the course. This will really help us as we care for our child.
